Alex Haines lives for music and the written word. Singing long before she could talk, she's been writing music since she was four years old. She has a fanatical love for singing, writing, playing guitar and reading more than anything else. Her writting consists of songs, poetry, journal entries and the occasional short story.
She says, "Musically, I write and sing melodic metal, but I don’t have a band right now, so acoustic performances will have to do. (How come?) Well, I have been singing all my life, but I had no semblance of vocal training until I was nineteen. During my first two years of college I took voice lessons and had a metal band, until my at-the-time voice teacher said she could tell my vocal cords were damaged just by listening to me speak. I saw an ENT and was diagnosed with vocal polyps, caused by years of singing and screaming incorrectly. My band broke up, and I decided to put my music on hold.
My vocal cords healed in the latter part of 2008, but I was kicked out of my university’s voice department because of politics. I began searching for a new voice teacher outside of school, and I finally found someone the following summer. I have been taking lessons with her ever since. She taught me how to sing correctly, with faster and healthier results than I’d seen with any other voice teacher before. I am learning to scream properly as well, and once I have that down I will put a metal band together. And take the world by storm". Indeed.
